The City of Milbank is preparing for its busiest time of the year – road construction season.  According to Jason Kettwig, administrator for the City of Milbank, the city’s biggest road construction project this summer is Viola Street, south of Highway 12. “We will be doing total reconstruction of Viola Street from 4th Avenue (or Highway 12) to 7th Avenue,” he stated. “Additionally, affected areas will include Park Avenue, Summit Avenue, and 5th Avenue.” The project is estimated at $458,649.50. The second lift will also be placed on Fourth Street. Fourth Street was a major project last year.

An ADA-approved (Americans with Disabilities) fishing dock will be installed at Lake Farley in May. Scoreboards will also be erected this summer at each of the three softball fields at Pribyl Park. “The scoreboards were purchased through donations and funds from the Milbank Ball Diamond Association,” Kettwig said. “The city will provide the power for them.” Some lights will also be situated along the Pribyl Park walking path. If necessary, more will be installed next summer.

Kettwig said the City of Milbank plans to continue work on drainage issues throughout the community. “We have a little more work to do in the Shopko area as well as behind Hardees and at Pribyl Park. We will work on those as we can.” The new dog park is also scheduled to be completed near the entrance to the Fairground Addition towards the north end of Main Street in Milbank.
