Fourteen Milbank High School juniors were inducted into the Milbank Honor Society on April 18. This year, the Milbank School District dropped participation in the National Honor Society and created the Milbank Honor Society. “We decided to try this for a year and will evaluate it for the future,” stated MHS Principal Dan Snaza.
The Milbank Honor Society follows the same criteria as the National Honor Society. Students must meet the requirements of its four pillars – academics, service learning, leadership, and character. They must have a grade point average of 3.25. Those applying for membership were discussed at length and chosen by a selection committee comprised of anonymous faculty members.
The 2017 inductees from MHS are: (l. to r.) Chase Pinkert, Alex Popowski, Molly Rick, Sophia Seffrood, Allison Pillatzki, Madison Liebe, and Rebecca Loehrer. Front row: Jodi DeVaal, Magally Kimberlly Aburto, Faith Brandenburger, Jennifer Seehafer, Christina Lusk, Angela Hoeke, and Adam Thomas.
