MHS students Kimberlly Aburto, Allison Pillatzki, and Rebecca Loehrer will attend the 71st Annual American Legion Auxiliary South Dakota Girls State. The event takes place in Vermillion on the campus of the University of South Dakota from May 29 through June 3. Tanner Kettwig will represent Milbank at the 75th Annual American Legion South Dakota Boys State. Boys State will be held in Aberdeen at Northern State University from May 29 to June 2.

Girls State is a program for young women that strives to provide intensive training in citizenship and government and is promoted as a laboratory of political science. The purpose of the American Legion Boys State of South Dakota is to help youth understand and appreciate the American system of government and way of life, including the rights and responsibilities of citizenship and to foster a knowledge of the fundamental principles of government within the state of South Dakota.
