Musicians from the Milbank High School band and choir earned top ratings for their performances at the large group music contest in Watertown on April 26. The MHS choir performed three numbers and received superior ratings across the board.
“The choir did very well,” said MHS choir director Miriam Schwenn. “In my opinion, we performed our best of the year, and it was perfect timing.”

The MHS band also presented three pieces and received two superior ratings and one excellent, which resulted in a superior rating overall. The judges included Bob Goheen from Brandon Valley, and Dr. Rolf Olson and Jerry Letcher, both from Northern State University in Aberdeen. “The band students responded well to the large size of the Watertown Arena,” noted MHS band director Susan Karels.

The band and choir will be featured in a spring concert on Tuesday, May 16. They will also perform at the MHS Commencement exercises on Sunday, May 21.
