Viola Street Construction Update

A major road construction project by the City of Milbank began last week on South Viola Street. According to City Administrator Jason Kettwig, the total reconstruction of Viola Street from Highway 12 to East 7th Avenue will take most of the summer to complete. “We hope the project will be done by the time school starts in the fall,” he stated.

The project includes new water and sewer lines, new curbs and gutters, and resurfacing. Kettwig said crews are now putting in temporary water lines and will begin installation of the permanent lines this week. The project also includes reconstruction of East 5th Avenue from Viola to South 9th Street, Summit Street from Viola to South 9th Street, and East Park Avenue from Viola to South 9th Street.
