The Milbank Fire and Rescue Department department fed about 600 people during National Night Out at the fire hall August 3. The team served nearly 830 burgers, brats, and hot dogs.

Milbank Fire Chief Kevin Schuelke said, “It’s good to see people visit with law enforcement and different entities in a fun environment, instead of during emergency situations.”

The fire department gave away prizes to the children by dropping balls off a ladder truck. Holden Holmquist caught the ball with the star and won a fire truck ride to school during Fire Prevention Week in October. Ten other kids won fidget spinners, and all the children received fire hats, stickers, and pencils.

“I was happy to see so many families and young people,” said Milbank Police Chief Boyd VanVooren. “I thought the roll over simulator and kitchen fire lesson were good. The weather was nice, and all who attended had a good time.”
