Main Street Milbank will be filled with young and old alike during the first outdoor Milbank CityFest. CityFest, a free family-friendly Christian event hosted by Lifelight and Calvary Church, takes place Thursday, August 24, from 4 to 10 p.m. in front of the Grant County Courthouse.
CityFest is the biggest Lifelight concert staged in Milbank. “We set up outdoors, more like our traditional festivals, and have packed it with an incredible lineup,” says Josh Brewer, President of Lifelight.
Christian music artists Hollyn, Bread of Stone, V-Rose, Cade Thompson, and Rochelle Hope will play music from hip-hop and pop to gospel, R&B, and contemporary. Bobby Bugatti, well known in the Milbank area for his talks at Milbank High School and Milbank Middle School, will offer a motivational message and rap songs. Brewer will also speak. The BMX Stunt Riders will dazzle with their tricks, and there will be inflatables for the kids and food vendors. Spectators are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
“There’s a lot more excitement with CityFest because it’s outdoors and on Main Street,” says Brewer. Brewer created the concept of taking the event downtown to the heart of the city. “We want to go to where people naturally are. We look forward to bringing people together, not only people from Milbank, but also bringing people outside of Milbank to the community.”
Lifelight has hosted several music concerts in Milbank with the assistance of Calvary Church. “God put together all the dots for this event,” says Calvary Church Pastor Jake Helstrom. “We decided we needed to quit trying to get people in the doors and instead go to where the people are and be a blessing to the community. That’s really what this is about – connecting people to God in a real way regardless of denomination.”
