St. Lawrence Catholic School in Milbank started the 2017-2018 school year Wednesday, August 23. Jesus is My Superhero is this year’s theme. Each month will feature a superhero from the Bible and illustrate how everyone is called to be superhero.

Two new teachers joined the St. Lawrence staff. Susie Wendland will teach computer two days a week and will remain the Student Council advisor. Cori Pierce is the new kindergarten teacher. She is finishing her final semester of college and will student teach in Wilmot the first semester. She takes over full-time at St. Lawrence the second semester. Sheila Bien is her long-term substitute, teaching the first semester of the year.

The 2017-2018 St. Lawrence staff also includes: Father Gary DeRouchey, school administrator; Brenda Anderson, principal; Jean Graf, preschool; Barb Thompson, first grade; Mary Hagen, second grade; Andrea Wiese, third grade; Sara Johnson, fourth grade; Candee Cloos, fifth grade; Paula Rausch, sixth grade; Elizabeth Schulte, music; Julie Landmark, secretary; Ken Vanorny, Marvin Powell and Darnell Frerichs, custodians; and Gail Adelman, cook.
