The Milbank Area Bulldogs dominated the Todd County Falcons in the quarterfinal round of the Class 11A high school football playoffs Thursday, October 26, in Mission. Milbank Area, now 7-3, advances to the semi-finals and travels to Madison for a rematch of the Battle of the Bulldogs. The semi-final game is Friday, November 3. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

It was all Milbank all Thursday night. The Bulldogs scored eight touchdowns and punted the ball away just twice. Todd County was held to a three and out on every offensive possession except one. Milbank Area also did not have any turnovers. Todd County gave up one fumble.

Jake Karges scored four rushing touchdowns. In the opening quarter, he found paydirt from five and 16 yards out. Quarterback Mitch Quade added a one-yard touchdown. Cole Dockter and Jake Sandvig each found the end zone on a two-point conversion, giving Milbank Area the 22-0 advantage to end the first quarter.

Karges scored again to start the second period, this time from 30 yards out. Later in the quarter he scored on a 12-yard TD run. Quade connected with Max McCulloch for a 17-yard touchdown. Dockter added a five-yard TD run, and Brodie Holtquist added a three-yard touchdown. Carlos Padilla was successful on three PAT’s for the game.

The game was called at halftime because of the mercy rule giving the Dawgs the 55-0 victory. “I’m happy with the way our guys came out and got after it,” said Bulldog Head Coach Jeremy Tostenson.

Milbank Area collected the win with 242 yards of total offense. The Bulldogs had 26 yards passing and 216 yards rushing. Todd County produced just 21 offensive yards, three passing and 18 rushing.

Quade went 2-for-5 passing for 26 yards and one touchdown. He also added four yards rushing on two carries and a TD. Karges finished the night with 144 yards rushing on 10 carries and four touchdowns. Dockter added 48 yards rushing on three totes and a score. Holtquist wrapped up the night with 12 yards rushing on four carries and a TD. Sandvig added six yards on one carry, and McCulloch had 26 yards on two catches and a touchdown.

For the defense, Holtquist led the team with five tackles. Karges and Quade had four tackles each. Tanner Kettwig and Preston Morton added three apiece. Dockter and Nate Bohn were credited with two tackles each, and Austin Schuelke, James Weber and Toby Schneck, one apiece.

In the other semi-final game of Class 11A, Dakota Valley will host St. Thomas More on Friday, November 3. The winners of both semi-finals games meet for the championship title game in the DakotaDome in Vermillion on Saturday, November 11, at 1 p.m.
