
The annual Veterans Day program took place at the Milbank Armory with a capacity crowd on hand on Friday, November 10. Captain LaDean Bunkers, a retired member of the United States Navy, was the keynote speaker for the event. He talked of his days in the military and said, “If I had to do it all over again, I would.”
Wayne VanHout, American Legion Post #9 commander, served as the emcee, and the Post #9 chaplin provided the invocation.
Musical selections were provided by the Milbank High School band and Milbank Middle School choir. A salute to fallen comrades was provided by the VFW Post #3486 rifle squad with a 21-gun salute, followed by the playing of “Taps.”
Units participating in the event included American Legion Post #9 and Auxiliary, VFW Post #3486 and Auxiliary, Disabled Veterans of America Chapter 1054, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1054, and the 740th Transportation Company.
