Changes Made to Bloodmobile Appointments Today
Local News November 20, 2017 Staff Writer 0
If you intend to donate blood at the American Red Cross Blood Drive, today, Monday, November 20, plan to sign up online. According to local bloodmobile coordinator, Margaret Skoog, “In order to insure enough staff and supplies are on hand, we are urging donors to sign up online.” Walk-ins are still welcome, but the Red Cross has adopted a much tighter appointment schedule. Walk-ins should consider donating during the slower times – typically between 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. The blood drive runs from noon to 6 p.m at Unity Square in Milbank.
Donors who gave their email addresses to the Red Cross should check for confirmation of the appointment they made at the last blood drive in July. Donors who did not provide email addresses have also been given appointments. Those times will not be available online. If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, contact the Red Cross to free up that time slot for other donors. Preference is given to long-time donors.
Wait time can be reduced by using RapidPass. According to Skoog, “This lets donors complete the pre-donation reading and answer the health history questionnaire online the day of their donation.” To complete RapidPass go to www.red-crossblod.org/rapidpass. For questions or concerns, contact Skoog at 605-880-0435.
