The Grant County Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the Grant County Child Protection Team, Shopko, and Inter-lakes Community Action Partnership (ICAP) teamed up to sponsor the annual “Christmas With A Cop”. The program helps children in need buy Christmas presents for their families.
Thirty children from the Grant County area shopped at Hometown Shopko in Milbank on Wednesday, December 20, with the help of local law enforcement officers.
“This project helps children have a memorable Christmas in addition to teaching them to feel good about themselves through giving to others,” stated Milbank Police Chief Boyd VanVooren.
Every child was given a designated amount of money to purchase Christmas gifts for their parents, grandparents and siblings. Each child was also able to purchase something special for themselves. Once the shopping was done, the gifts were wrapped and the children were able to take the gifts home to place under their tree.
