The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) donated $4,200 for gift cards to Shopko, Hartman’s Family Foods, and Berens Warehouse... Local Veterans Give Over $4,000 in Holiday Assistance

The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) donated $4,200 for gift cards to Shopko, Hartman’s Family Foods, and Berens Warehouse Grocery for local veterans. The groups also offer assistance during the holidays to veterans for medications, heating and fuel costs, and other necessities. The DAV and VVA also contribute to charitable organizations such as the Sea of Goodwill in Watertown and the Salvation Army.

“As a veteran, it’s the least I can do to show respect for other veterans and their families that are in need,” Steve Strege said.
The DAV and VVA hold an annual raffle to raise funds, stage an auction during their Christmas party, and distribute memorial donations.

DAV members donate gift cards to Heather Rise of Interlakes Community Action Partnership in Milbank: (l. to r.) Steve Strege, Paul Spolar, Heather Rise (ICAP), and Floyd Hermans.

Representing the Vietnam Veterans of America are Steve Strege, and Floyd Hermans.
