New Business Opens on Main Street Milbank

An empty building on Main Street Milbank has been filled. Advanced Technologies, Inc., opened for business in downtown Milbank on January 2. The company, located at 301 South Main Street, is in the former Boos and Grajczyk Law Office building across the street from Great Western Bank.

The business is owned by Mike Dusing and Mike Maurer. Dusing is a long-time employee of Twin Valley Tire in Milbank and will remain employed at that establishment. He will also serve as the business manager for Advanced Technologies.

Maurer, originally from Detroit Lakes, has traveled the country working in the IT industry for over 20 years. His experience includes GSI Commerce which was purchased first by Amazon and then by eBay. He has a masters degree in technology systems management from Murray State in Kentucky and will function as the company’s expert in networking and security administration.

“The thing that sets us apart from other information technology (IT) businesses in the area is that our staff has over 50 years of combined experience and we are locally owned and operated,” said Maurer. “Our staff resides within this community, and we are here to serve Milbank.”

Sarah Kasuske, who has many years of management experience, will serve as the office manager and will oversee the day-to-day operations. Andrii Smirnov is the electronics engineer. He is from Ukraine and most recently worked in Madison, Minnesota. He and his family will be relocating to Milbank.

“Andrii has 25 years of experience and can fix anything,” Maurer said. “There is not too much he can’t fix. If it’s been run over by a car or truck, he can still fix it and do it very quickly.”

Joe Weeding is the sales manager. He will graduate this summer with a mathematics degree from the University of Minnesota at Duluth. He will also relocate to the area. “Joe has three years of experience with both PCs and Macs,” Maurer explained.

Advanced Technologies, Inc., offers computer repair, data recovery and backup, network management, cell phone and tablet repairs, electronics repairs, and website design services. The business also offers custom built computers, printers and scanners, new and used desktop computers, new and used laptop computers, computer accessories, and security and surveillance cameras.
