The 70th Annual Grant County Farm and Home Show on January 12-13, showcased 27 crop entries and 197 home exhibits. Sara Koepke, advisor for the Grant County 4-H Youth Program, said, “There was an increase of 98 home exhibits from last year to this year. There was a decline in crop show. However, that was credited with the increased moisture and this summer’s hail storm.”

Two $100 drawings for crop exhibitors were added to the lineup for this anniversary year – one $100 drawing for youth and one $100 drawing for adult exhibitors. The winners were Kylene Bowen in the youth division and Randy Busk in the adult.

Also new this year, the Grant County 4-H program sponsored a coloring contest for schools in Grant County for grades kindergarten to fifth grade. The Milbank Chamber of Commerce committee members judged the 267 entries.

Top coloring contest winners were: Tenley Bohn, kindergarten; Zora Heinrich, first grade; Daylynn Voeltz, second grade; Liam Heller, third grade; Nycole Korstjens, fourth grade; and Claire Snaza, fifth grade.

The Grant County 4-H recognizes top home exhibits in beginner, youth, and adult categories. Ribbons are awarded to first, second, and third exhibits in each lot. In addition, this year, the top, second, and third home exhibits in each class received a monetary award sponsored by the Milbank Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee.
