Jason and Angie Ackerman of Milbank have purchased UPI Petroleum in Milbank. Their first day of business as the new owners was Monday, January 8.
UPI offers fuel and propane services, fishing bait, and convenience items. Jason, who oversees the day-to-day operations of the business, says, “We are not making any changes immediately, but are focusing on doing business as usual. We have some ideas for improvements, but that will come later.”
The couple purchased the business from Rick Hentges, who owned and operated UPI for nearly 40 years. Jason has been employed by Schuneman Equipment/Kibble Equipment for the past 11 years, and Angie is a long time employee of Big Stone Therapies in Ortonville.
Other members of the Milbank UPI team are: Lisa Anderson, C-Store manager; Teresa Briggs, accounting; Elliott Wolleber, service technician; Neil Anderson, fuel driver; and Brian Schnaser, propane driver.
