Four speakers from MHS qualified for the 2018 South Dakota State Debate Tournament. The tournament takes place in Watertown Friday and Saturday, March 2-3. Lars Andersen and Nathan Loutsch will compete in Extemporaneous Speaking and Public Forum, Claire Mischel in Lincoln-Douglas Debate and Extemporaneous Speaking, and Kimberlly Aburto in Original Oratory.
The team traveled to Brookings February 23 and 24, for the Northern District Qualifying tournament and the chance to compete at Nationals. Loutsch and Andersen were finalists in Duo Oral Interpretation. They also reached the semi-final round in Public Forum Debate. Mischel, Makenna Osowski, Amy Nelson, Caitlin Kroemer, and Samantha Staehling also competed at the event.
