Middle School Musicians Play in All-State Band

The 19th Annual SDMEA Middle School All-State Band Festival was held on March 2 and March 3 at the Pierre Riggs High School. Honor Band musicians from Milbank Middle School were William Karels on tuba and Isaac Schulte on trumpet. The Honor Band was under the direction of Dr. Christopher Unger of Augustana University.

Also participating in the festival, were Luis Berrones on bass clarinet and Savannah Stengel on clarinet. Their band was under the direction of Mrs. Mary Cogswell of the Brookings School District.

Susan Karels (Grades 6-12 Band) and Nyssa Duffield (NSU Student Teacher) accompanied the students to the event. The festival is sponsored by the South Dakota Music Educators’ Association.
