Two fires broke out within 15 minutes and one mile of each other on Monday, May 7. The Milbank Fire Department, the Revillo Fire Department, the Labolt Fire Department, Grant County Emergency Management, and the Grant County Sheriff’s Department responded to the calls.
The first call came in at 2:11 p.m. Bales were on fire near a cattle feedlot at 16362 475th Avenue. The property is owned by Eric and Pat Stricherz. The second call came in from 47550 164th Street and reported a field of newly seeded no till beans on corn stubble was on fire. Approximately 1/4 mile burned. The property is owned by Grant Street. The fire and rescue teams had both blazes under control in about an hour.
