Bulldog Coach Adolph Shepardson considered the season ahead and commented, “Challenges include a very tough home schedule versus some of the best teams in the state.” These opponents include Madison, Dakota Valley, and Dell Rapids. He also noted the challenge of “helping some young guys get ready to play and contribute at the varsity level.”

With just shy of 60 players on the roster, the team has a lot of players to prepare. Shepardson expects help to come from within. “I expect all our seniors to be great leaders this fall, and I also expect our quarterbacks at each level to be great leaders.”

There are just eight seniors on the team and 22 freshmen. The roster also includes 16 juniors and 13 sophomores. But the numbers don’t seem to faze Shepardson, who seems nothing but excited about the season ahead. “I am most excited about being able to work with great young men everyday and help them not only become better football players, but also better men. I look forward to the challenges each week brings as we prepare to play our best each Friday night!”

The Bulldogs play their opener this Friday when they host Madison. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at A.B. Campbell Stadium.
