Milbank Boy Scout Troop 45, Cub Scout Pack 38, and their families collected over 1,000 items for the Milbank Food Pantry during their annual Scouting for Food event on October 27. The scouts also gathered 14 pairs of eyeglasses to give to the South Dakota Lions Foundation. Scoutmaster Jeff Loutsch thanks the community for their donations, but says, “These numbers are down from past years and it could be due to other organizations also holding food drives, residents traveling out of town during the drive, or households simply being unable to donate.”

Milbank Boy Scout Troop 45 participates in another yearly event called The Potato Project. Warren and Eloise Falk plant potatoes on their farm and team up with the Boy Scouts to pick them. This year, the troop picked over 3,000 pounds of potatoes which were donated by the Falk family to the Milbank Food Pantry and several church organizations.
