You’ll have a “grand stay” at the New GrandStay Hotel in Milbank. The hotel which opened today, November 8, is located at the edge of Milbank on Highway 15. The GrandStay provides 46 rooms, an indoor pool, and a hot tub, It also features ample parking, a fitness facility, and a meeting room which accommodates up to 40 people.

The project is the brainchild of Mark Leddy, who says, “It’s rewarding and exciting, especially because there hasn’t been a new hotel in Milbank in 33 years. Mark and his wife, Susan, believe the hotel will also attract more revenue to the local economy.

Guests are reminded they are in Milbank when they see the local granite on the hearth of the lobby’s fireplace or peruse the huge photo mural. The mural’s vantage point is on old County Road No. 8 – now 149th Street – heading west and looking back into the valley. Visible landmarks include the water tower and the old alfalfa mill.

Photos of the Old Mill, the statue in front of the Grant County Courthouse, and Lake Farley, including one of a pelican by a park bench, bring local color into each room. Vintage photos displayed throughout the building also highlight the area’s heritage.

Although the hotel is still interviewing for the perfect manager, their interim manager, Tammy Masters, is on the job. Tammy is from the team at Blue Sky – the management firm for Milbank’s GrandStay and about 15 other hotels in Minnesota. Local people have been hired for front desk positions, the cleaning crew, and staff to prepare the daily continental breakfast, which offers both hot and cold items. During pleasant weather, the patio off the breakfast area will provide another option for dining and relaxation.

Room choices include: king spa suites, queen rooms, and king and queen extended-stay rooms that also have a hide-a-bed sofa and a full kitchen with a dishwasher. Regardless of your selection, each room sports a refrigerator, WiFi, and Direct TV. No smoking is allowed at GrandStay, but tail wagging is acceptable -some rooms are pet friendly. Rates range from $119 to $149.

If you are expecting friends and family for the holidays, get your reservations now at: www.GrandStayHospitality.com. or phone the hotel at 605.438.5000.
