Shane Ayres has been hired as the new Chief Financial Officer at Ortonville Area Health Services (OAHS). Ayres had been employed as the CFO at Sanford Wheaton Medical Center in Wheaton, Minnesota since 2007. His professional life also includes five years as the city administrator for Faith, South Dakota, and five years in that position for the City of Wheaton.

OAHS CEO David Rogers said, “The CFO position at OAHS became available when Kevin Benson, resigned to relocate to Juneau, AK, and provide his financial expertise to the local community hospital. “Kevin had been with OAHS for 6 years and served us well during his time. While it was a loss for us, we certainly understood that this was an opportunity and adventure he couldn’t pass up. We wish Kevin the very best.  As he departed for The Last Frontier, he ceremonially “passed the buck” to Shane.”

Rogers continued, “We undertook a nationwide search for the CFO position, but I was thrilled when I heard of Shane’s interest in this position. I am pretty proud of the leadership team we have built over the years at OAHS. To bring onboard someone who comes as highly regarded as Shane, and someone who is also familiar with our finance systems and is grounded in the area, was more than I could have imagined.”

Shane holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and is a native of Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He and his wife have three boys ages 14 to 19. In their free time, Shane and his family are very involved in operating the Wheaton community-owned movie theater (Gopher Theater) and served on the Wheaton/Dumont Community Fund and Wheaton City Council.
