BREAKING: Milbank Shopko To Close

Shopko announced the closure of 139 more stores today. The list includes the Milbank store which will close May 12.

The new list of South Dakota stores and their expected date of closure includes:
Milbank – May 12
Sioux Falls – 41st Street – May 12 and Arrowhead Parkway – April 14
Aberdeen- May 12
Webster – March 2
Sisseton – May 5
Rapid City – May 5
Dell Rapids – March 2
Chamberlain – May 12
Redfield – March 2
Wagner – March 2
Custer – April 7

Shopko says in the plans to restructure the company, the purchaser has determined it must move forward with a smaller footprint. The new model axes an additional 139 Shopko stores and Shopko Hometown stores and relocates approximately 50 optical centers in closing stores to freestanding locations. The Wisconsin-based chain founded in 1962 had been operating 363 stores in 24 states.
