Grant County Christian Service Council Gives Away Food for 177 Families

Feeding South Dakota and the Grant County Christian Service Council served 177 families at the food giveaway on June 12. Over 9272 pounds of food was distributed. The majority of the food was purchased from Feeding South Dakota, but turkeys donated by the Montevideo Legion Riders, and cheese, donated by Valley Queen, were also dispersed.
Brenda Maass event coordinator reported about 30 volunteers from six area churches, St. Williams Care Center, and Ameriprise Financial assisted. State Farm donated the use of their trailer and United Hardware donated cardboard boxes, Runnings provided shopping carts and grocery bags. Advertising was donated by The Valley Express, the Grant County Review, and KMSD.
The next giveaway will be August 21 from 4:30-6 p.m. at the 4-H exhibit building in Milbank. Want to help with the August giveaway or at a later date? Volunteers are needed. Email Brenda Maass at: brendajmaass@gmail.com.
