The St. Lawrence School will present their Christmas program on Wednesday, December 11 at 1:30 and 7 p.m. in the St. Lawrence gymnasium. This year’s theme highlights Jesus’ humble birth in the country. The program is directed by Elizabeth Schulte, who will be assisted by the entire St. Lawrence staff.
The fifth and sixth graders set the stage as they open the program playing tone chimes and the fourth graders play recorders. The preschoolers and kindergarteners will sing Christmas Bells, Come on Ring Those Bells, and The Angels Sing. First graders will perform The Friendly Beasts, as a reminder of the humble surroundings of Jesus’ birth. They will also sing, act, and provide sound effects for The Twelve Days of Christmas.
Students in second through sixth grade will perform a Christmas musical It All Happened In the Country. Sixth-grade actors include: Carlos Fonder, Allie Meyer, Ashlynn Batchelor, James Nelson, Nathan Fonder, and Kendra Roggenbuck. Narrators include: Garrett Weber, Layten Osowski, and Marnie VanLith.
Musical selections include traditional carols, “city kid” songs, and a country theme song — Ballad of the Shepherds, a parody of the Beverly Hillbillies. Second and third graders will sing Tell Me the Story, fifth graders will read from Luke 2, and sixth graders will don costumes and portray the characters of Mary and Joseph, angels, shepherds, and wisemen.
