St. Lawrence School in Milbank raised $12,875 from ticket sales and donations during the 2020 Catholic Schools Raffle. Costs to run the raffle were provided by the sole sponsor, Catholic United Financial, so every dollar raised in Milbank stays at St. Lawrence School.
Prizes included $40,000 in gift cards, vacations, a 2020 Buick Encore SUV, and more. Winners were announced on March 12 by guest emcees Super Bowl Champion Matt Birk and Miss Minnesota 2019 Kathryn Kueppers.
The 88 participating schools in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota raised more than $1.3 million — a new annual record for the program. The raffles have raised a cumulative total of $9.8 million since the program was established in 2009. Catholic United Financial provides all the prizes and promotional materials for the raffle and gives 100 percent of the profits to the schools.
Principal Brenda Anderson of St. Lawrence School extended her gratitude to the community for its support of the raffle and the school. Harald Borrmann, president of Catholic United Financial said, “All the credit goes to students, families, parish and school staff, and the wonderful communities that support them. It is an honor for us to show our unconditional support of Catholic education through this program year after year.”
