Ryan Scoular has been named the activities director for Milbank High School. He will begin his duties starting the 20-21 school year. The announcement was made during the school board’s regular meeting tonight, Monday, April 13. Scoular takes over the duties of Adolph Shepardson after Shepardson resigned from the former position of athletic director. The new position also includes the supervision and coordination of fine arts programs in addition to athletics.

Scoular says, “The position will be full of new challenges, and I can’t wait to start. I look forward to working with the
talented and dedicated coaches and advisors in Milbank and help them make our programs successful.”

Scoular previously taught middle school math and was the athletic director at Enemy Swim Day School from 2005–2007. He then spent three years as a middle school math and fourth through twelfth grade physical education teacher at Waubay. Scoular began his career in Milbank in 2010 as the middle school science teacher and assistant football and basketball coach. He has resigned from his coaching duties to take on the role of activities director.

Scoular’s initial plans for MHS activities and athletics includes developing relationships with coaches, advisors, staff, students, and parents. He will look to make improvements in the culture of the athletic department, schedules, strength and conditioning program, fundraising, and the school’s code of conduct. He will also put actions in place to enhance
school spirit.

Scoular’s wife, Rondi, is a pharmacist at Lewis Pharmacy in Milbank. They have four children: Rylee (13), Jeter (11), Max (10), and Kye (8).
