Brady Krause had all the right stuff Sunday night, June 21. He pitched a shutout for the Milbank Firechiefs and helped lift them to a 13-0 victory against Bryant. Milbank now sits at 2-0 for the season. B. Krause surrendered zero runs on two hits over seven innings and struck out 16 batters. Milbank secured the win thanks to eight runs in the seventh inning. Jesse Krause, Johnny Ash, Travis Lester, Taylor Boerger, Ronnie Krause, and Nolan Foss each had RBIs.
Milbank started by plating two runs in the first. Lester grounded out to score one run for the Chiefs, after Bryan Appl and Taylor Boerger were hit by pitches, while Ash was on base. Dom Boerger grounded into a fielder’s choice, but Ash scored, giving Milbank the early lead.
Milbank added one run in the fourth after a single by D. Boerger, who eventually found home plate. The Chiefs added two more runs in the sixth. Tyler Borns and B. Krause both walked. J. Krause loaded the bases after he reached first on a Bryant error. Borns then scored on a passed ball. Appl was walked while the bases were loaded up again. B. Krause scored the final
run in the inning on a passed ball.
That set up the big seventh inning for Milbank. Big bats were led by B. Krause and J. Krause, a single by Lester, a sacrifice fly by Foss, an error on a ball put in play by T. Boerger, and a double by Ash. D. Boerger went 2-of-5 at the plate to lead Milbank in hits.
