According to Jeny Koplin, owner of Schmidt’s Landing, “it sure was windy this last weekend but some fishermen still were able to get out fishing. It looks like the perch are starting to really bite. There has been a wide ranges of sizes and sometimes you need to sort, but we are seeing perch coming in 9″-12″. Most are using wax worms or spikes and minnows are getting less fish but usually larger ones.  Smaller ice fishing tungten jigs or Schuck’s lures have been the tackle of choice. Anchoring down 10′-12′ has been the depth to be at.

From the shore with slip bobbers and plain hooks tipped with crawlers, people are bringing in bluegill and perch. We have also had reports of walleye being caught trolling with crank baits.”
