The Grant County Christian Service Council is again coordinating efforts with Feeding South Dakota to facilitate a food giveaway on Wednesday, August 19. Because this is the first day of school in Milbank, the giveaway will be held in the parking lot of the Grant County 4-H Fairgrounds from 4 -5 p.m. Anyone in need is welcome to receive food; there are no income requirements.

The giveaway is a drive-through only event.  The food, which is coming from the USDA this round, will be boxed and ready. Your family will receive three boxes – one each of meat, dairy products, and fresh produce. You will also receive a gallon of milk and a pound of cheese from Valley Queen. There is a limit of one set of boxes per family and two sets per vehicle. If you pick up food for one extra family, you must exit the parking lot, go to the back of the line, and drive through again.

Enter the fairgrounds parking lot and wait for traffic flow directions. Don’t forget to clear a space in your vehicle. Open your trunk or back liftgates once you are in line. This will help keep the traffic flowing. Volunteers will place the boxes in your vehicle.

Physically unable to attend? Call the ICAP office at 605.432.6571 prior to Wednesday to make arrangements to have your boxes delivered.

“Donations to the Christian Service Council are always welcome,” says Brenda Maass, co-organizer of the giveaway. “Especially in this time of greater need!”

Maass says, “The majority of our funding comes from donations to our local Thrift Store, but donations from churches, businesses, and generous individuals ensure that we have the resources to serve those less fortunate in our community.”

Mail your check to the Grant County Christian Service Council at 210 East Fifth Avenue in Milbank, South Dakota.
