355 Families Benefit from Local Food Giveaway

Over 13,000 pounds of food were distributed to 355 families by 29 volunteers at the Grant County Christian Service Council’s food giveaway on August 19. The event was again held with the assistance of Feeding South Dakota, but all the food came from the USDA at no cost to the council.

Brenda Maass, Milbank’s co-coordinator, says, “This giveaway took place at the fairgrounds, and we were able to get the majority of the vehicles through the receiving line in approximately 40 minutes.  Each family received a box of meat, a box of fruits and vegetables, and a box of dairy products along with a half gallon of milk. A pound of cheese from Valley Queen was also given to each family.”
