The last food giveaway of 2020 was held on October 7 at the Grant County 4-H Fairgrounds. According to Brenda Maass, co-coordinator of the drive, 23 volunteers served 350 families 14,350 pounds of food.

Maass says everything went like clockwork. “We were able to distribute the food to the first 320 families in less than 40 minutes.”

“The Grant County Christian Service Council was told all of the food would be coming from Feeding South Dakota, but at the last minute, they received more boxes from the USDA,” she says.  “Because the boxes came from the USDA, there was no charge to the council for any of the food. The boxes included meat, fruits, vegetables, and dairy products.  Guests also received a gallon of milk and a pound of cheese from Valley Queen.”
Maass reminds everyone, “This was the last giveaway for 2020, but we will hold four giveaways again next year.”
