The Milbank School District has updated its attendance policy for athletic and school events, effective immediately as decided by the Milbank School Board during its regular meeting on Monday, January 11.
The district will allow all of the student body to attend events as long as they wear a mask. Voucher tickets will still be required for adults to attend. Athletes and team members will receive four tickets for double header basketball games and six tickets for single events.
“Most of the schools in our area and conference have moved to this type of attendance,” stated Milbank Activities Director Ryan Scoular. “With our lower cases in the school and community, we feel we can loosen up the attendance policy, as long as the students remain wearing masks.”
The school might also do away with the distribution of tickets for adults and go to an honor system. “It takes a lot of time to print and distribute those tickets, and everyone has been very good about attendance. We have turned away very few people from events, so we feel we can use the honor system effectively,” said Scoular. “But we will continue to discuss that before making a final decision.”
