Milbank Elementary and Milbank Middle School entered 110 musicians in The South Dakota Bandmasters Middle School Band Contest at the Milbank schools on Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10. The total of 140 entries included students from Big Stone City and Ortonville. Milbank received 19 Superior Plus, 72 Superior, 1 Excellent Plus, and 39 Excellent ratings.
Accompanists included: William Karels, Isaac Sousa, Hailey Hupke, Dani Yamaura, Elsie Seffrood, Amaya Street, Addie Farrell, Hope Karels, Jacquie Wold, Betty DeBoer, Brittany Cordingley, Anna Neugebauer, Ellie Neugebauer, Pam Neugebauer, and Deb Rausch. Mrs. Susan Karels is the director of the bands for sixth through twelfth grade. The fifth grade band instructors are Ms. Mariah Tietjen, Mrs. Deb Rausch, and Mrs. Susan Karels.
