The MHS Bulldogs stunned the Chamberlain Cubs 52-0 after just three quarters of play on Friday, August 27, at A.B. Campbell Field in Milbank.
In the first quarter, Milbank racked up 20 points. Marshall Voeltz secured a two-yard touchdown, and it was followed by a good extra point kick by Bennett Schwenn. Schwenn then added another six points to the board with an 18-yard touchdown run. His extra point attempt was no good and the score sat at 13-0.

Later in the first quarter, the Cubs fumbled the ball and junior Sawyer Gauer came up with it to run it 31 yards back to the house. Schwenn lined up for another kick, which was good. The scoreboard moved to 20-0 in favor of the Dawgs.

The Bulldogs did more damage in the second quarter: Junior Barrett Schneck picked off a pass intended for a Cub and carried it 15 yards for a touchdown. Kellen Hoeke kept his hands on the ball for a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Kaden Krause, and Schwenn added another point with a kick between the posts. The score sat at 33-0 with time still remaining in the quarter.

Schwenn then decided to go on a 69-yard hike, and Karson Weber took a 56-yard punt return home to add two more touchdowns to Milbank’s total. Schwenn missed the extra point attempt after his own touchdown, but made good on the one after Weber’s.
Victory looked pretty promising for the Bulldogs at halftime. The scoreboard glowed 46-0.

In the third quarter, Carter Bowsher intercepted the ball and took it over the line for Milbank’s eighth touchdown of the night. The score brought an end to the Cub’s misery and an end to the game, which was called due to the Mercy Rule at 52-0.
