Milbank Fire Department Quickly Controls Blaze at Gesswein Motors

Fire broke out at Gesswein Motors in Milbank on Saturday night, September 18. The Milbank Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the scene at 804 South Dakota Street on Highway 15 just after the call came in at 8:11 p.m. 
Milbank Fire Chief Kevin Schuelke said, “We found a storage building north of the main automotive dealership building and south of another storage structure involved in flames. Firefighters protected both adjacent buildings and extinguished the fire.”

Schuelke reported that firefighters were on the scene for approximately four hours, and monitored the situation overnight. The building that houses the main dealership and the north dealership building were unscathed.

“The damaged building contained mostly tires, wheels, vehicle add on accessories, parts, and other items — most of which were saved,” Schuelke said.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
