The Milbank Bulldogs lost a low-scoring game in the Battle of the Bulldogs against Madison on Friday, September 17, on the road.

In the first quarter, Madison scored on a blocked punt to force a safety and put Milbank behind at 2-0. In the second quarter, Madison’s quarterback Nate Ricke passed to Peyton Wolfe to end a 42-yard drive and add another six points. The kick was good and Madison increased their lead to 9-0. Neither team, however, could muster up any points for the rest of the game, and the final score sat at 9-0.

Milbank racked up 211 yards to Madison’s 239. Milbank’s total included 158 yards rushing and 53 yards passing. Madison compiled 91 yards rushing and 148 yards passing. 

Milbank’s quarterback, Kaden Krause, completed eight of 15 for 53 yards. He also added 35 yards rushing.  
Karson Weber was the team’s leading receiver with two for 28 yards. Marshall Voeltz followed with two for 12 yards. He also chalked up 118 yards rushing.
Junior Sawyer Gauer also had a reception for 12 yards and junior Eli Johnson had one for five. Gauer and Bennett Schwenn each contributed four yards rushing. 
For the defense, Voeltz led with nine tackles. Connor Bender had six and Krause and Schwenn each had four. Weber and Maddox Hanson had two apiece.

Milbank committed three turnovers – two interceptions and a fumble. Madison threw one interception. 
Milbank saw two flags and was clipped for penalties of 15 yards and Madison had just one for 10.

The Bulldogs play their 2021 Homecoming game this Friday, September 24. They face Clark-Willow Lake. Game starts at 7 p.m.
