New Location Announced for Milbank Food Giveaway

The Grant County Christian Service Council (GCCSC) is once again coordinating with Feeding South Dakota for the last Food Giveaway of the year on Wednesday, October 20, in Milbank. Because of the construction at the Grant County 4-H grounds, the location has been changed. The Food Giveaway will be held from 4-5 p.m. on the south edge of Milbank just off Highway 15 at the former Titan Machinery lot. The address is 1104 South Madison Street. 

Anyone who feels they are in need is welcome. There are no income requirements. The giveaway will be a drive-thru event. The food will already be boxed and delivered by Feeding South Dakota. Brenda Maass, coordinator of the drive says, “Because of its close proximity to the highway, we are asking recipients to arrive NO EARLIER than 2:30 p.m. to avoid traffic concerns. Also, please do not park in the lot until the volunteers are there at 2:30 p.m. to give parking instructions.” She reminds participants, “Open your trunk or back lift gate once you are in line. Volunteers will place the boxes in the vehicle. To save everyone time, it is important to have the space in your vehicle ready. There is a two-family limit per vehicle.  If you are picking up a box for another family, when you get in line, you must provide your name and the name of the other family.”  

“Feeding South Dakota now requires us to collect household information from each family. Recipients will be asked how many people in each family are ages 0-17, 18-59, and 60 and over,” Maass says. “If you are unable to attend, please make arrangements for someone else to pick up your food. We are no longer able to make deliveries after the event.”
