MHS Musicians Audition for All-State Orchestra

MHS sophomores Rachel and Joe Schulte have been chosen to play first violin in the South Dakota All-State Orchestra for 2021. Rachel will be seventh chair and Joe will be at 28th. Auditions were held in Huron on October 12.

Five students from Milbank auditioned. Selections were announced on Saturday, October 16.  Musicians who auditioned for the orchestra included: Violin 2 — Sophomore Nicholas Fonder,  Violin 2 — Freshman Veronica Fonder, General Percussion, Mallets and Timpani — Junior Merik Junker,  Violin 1– Sophomore Joe Schulte, Violin 1– Sophomore Rachel Schulte. 

The South Dakota All-State Orchestra and Choir Concert is set for Saturday, October 30, at the newly-renovated Summit Arena at The Monument in Rapid City.  The students are instructed by Elizabeth Schulte (private strings instructor) and Susan Karels (Grades 6-12 Band) with assistance from Mrs. Deb Rausch.
