Schulte Siblings Play in All-State Orchestra in Rapid City

The 69th Annual South Dakota All-State Orchestra was held October 29- 30 at The Monument in Rapid City. The finale concert was presented on October 30.
Participants from Milbank High School included: Rachel Schulte who played first violin and was placed in the 7th chair. Joe Schulte, who also played first violin and was seated in the 28th chair.
The musicians were under the direction of guest conductor, Dr. Kevin Suetterlin of Concordia University in Moorhead, Minnesota. The concert program included Marche Slave by Pytor Tchaikovsky, The Bamboula, Rhapsodic Dance for Orchestra by Samuel Colerige-Taylor, and Berceuse and Finle from: The Firebird by Igor Stravinsky.
The combined orchestra and chorus selections were: The Star Spangled Banner, Before The Whirlwind, How Can You Buy The Sky by Rene Clausen, and I Hear America Singing by Andre Thomas.
The students are instructed by Elizabeth Schulte in her studio and Susan Karels, the grades 6-12 band director for the Milbank School District. Mrs. Karels accompanied the students to the event.
