Milbank FFA students will compete in the South Dakota State FFA Leadership Career Development event in Pierre on December 5-6. The Milbank FFA Chapter members qualified in Parliamentary Procedure, Employment Skills, and Creed Speaking at the district competition on November 8. FFA members who place first at the state competition will represent South Dakota at the National FFA Convention next October.

Also, at the district event, Raul Berrones was selected as a 2021-2022 District 1 FFA Officer. District 1 FFA officers will represent District 1 FFA at the FFA Legislative Day in Pierre in January, work at the State FFA Convention in April, and the South Dakota State Fair. 

The MHS FFA Parliamentary Procedure team received a First or Gold. Milbank’s Senior FFA Conduct of Meeting team was lead by President Isaac Sousa. Members included Marion Muschel, Hattie Muellenbach, Luis Berrones, Wylie Mursu and Tice Mursu. Natalie Meyer, Keara Van Hoorn and Raul Berrones will serve as alternates to the state event.

Korbin Leddy placed First or Gold in FFA Employment Skills. Bergen Nolting also participated in that event. Veronica Fonder place Silver or Second in the FFA Creed Speaking Event to earn a trip to the state event.

Other Milbank FFA teams and FFA individuals that competed were: Camila Monroy in the Prepared Public Speaking Career Development Event. Ashlynn Lamp in Agriculture Broadcasting/Journalism, and Korbin Leddy and Camila Monroy in the Extemporaneous Speech Contest. 

The Milbank FFA Conduct of Chapter Meeting team placed third. The Conduct of Chapter Meeting Career Development Event is designed for eighth grade through freshmen Greenhand FFA members.  

The Milbank FFA Junior Conduct of Meeting team consisted of acting President—Lydia Street; Vice President—Shane Spiering; Secretary—McKenna Parent; Treasurer—Noah Thompson; Reporter—Nollen Sheeley; Sentinel—Jacob Bublitz; and Student Advisor—Oliver Korth.
