Korbin Leddy’s essay on “America: Where Do We Go From Here?” was selected as the top essay in district four in South Dakota’s Voice of Democracy contest. Leddy earned a monetary award from the district and his essay advances to compete at the state level. Leddy’s essay reached the district competition by winning the local contest sponsored by the Milbank VFW Auxiliary.

According to local Voice of Democracy chairperson, Rhonda Preller, who is also senior vice president of Milbank’s VFW Auxiliary, the five district winners and their parents will be invited to a recognition banquet in Pierre. Attendees will also be treated to a tour of the South Dakota State Capitol and a visit to Governor Noem’s office.

One of the five essays will represent South Dakota and compete at the national level. The author of the state’s winning essay receives an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington D.C.
