At approximately 6:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, firefighters from the Summit Fire and Rescue Department were dispatched to a shop and shed fire at 46011 146th Street.  The property is owned by Roger Smith. When the firefighters arrived, they found the building engulfed in flames.

Kevin Schuelke of Grant County Emergency Management, who also arrived at the scene, said, “Despite the challenging 12-degree-below-zero temperatures, firefighters were able to knock down, extinguish, and keep the fire from spreading to nearby equipment and bales. However, three tractors — including a new loader tractor — ATVs, and the shop equipment all perished in the blaze.

Summit Fire Chief Cal Pies reported, “Firefighters remained at the site for about two hours.”  The Grant-Roberts Ambulance was also at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
