HOSA chapter members Hattie Muellenbach, Savannah Stengel, Stella Wendland, and Julia and Jaclyn Wiik each earned a top-place finish at South Dakota’s HOSA State Leadership Conference. Nearly 1000 students from across the state competed at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls from March 31- April 1.  Because they finished in one of the top three places, all five Milbank students also gained the opportunity to compete in the HOSA International Leadership Conference this June in Nashville, Tennessee.

Julia and Jaclyn Wiik each placed first in Health Career Display. Stella Wendland placed first in the Pathophysiology Knowlege Test and third in Extemporaneous Writing. Hattie Mullenbach and Savannah Stengel each placed second in the Emergency Medical Technician competition.

Over 40 breakout sessions, which included speakers and hands-on activities, were offered to attendees. Johanna Fischer serves as the HOSA advisor at MHS. She also accompanied the students to the state event.
