Milbank Students Host and Perform at South Dakota Bandmasters Contest

Over 200 musicians in fifth through eighth grade performed at the South Dakota Bandmasters Contest in Milbank. Milbank students comprised 115 of the entries. Students from Big Stone City and Browns Valley, Deubrook, and Ortonville, Minnesota also competed. The instrumentals from Milbank received 43 Superior Plus ratings, 73 Superior ratings, three Superior minus ratings, and 24 Excellent ratings.

Accompanists included William Karels, Camryn Sovell, Brittany Cordingley,  Ann and Ellie Neugebauer, Renae Wollschlager, Jessica Zemlicka, Kristi Seehafer, Elizabeth Schulte, Bobbi Jo Meyer, and Deb Rausch. Susan Karels serves as the band instructor for the sixth graders and middle school students. Mariah Tietjen, Rausch, and S. Karels instruct the fifth graders.
