The Milbank Fire and Rescue Department was dispatched to a tractor fire at the corner of 148th Street and 471st Avenue on Wednesday, May 11, at approximately 3 p.m.

According to Fire Chief David Giesen, “Upon arrival, firefighters found the Case tractor fully engulfed. Firemen used water and foam to extinguish the flames and remained on the scene for about 45 minutes.” 

The tractor, which was a total loss, belonged to Kole Mastel. The fire is believed to have started in the exhaust system. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the incident.

On Friday, May 13, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Milbank firefighters were dispatched to Dakota Granite to investigate an odor of gas.  Fire Chief Giesen, said, “Gas was detected in the maintenance building and the cause of the leak was traced to a gas line fitting which feeds the heaters. We were on scene for about half hour.” Grant County Emergency Management also responded to the call.
