The Milbank Fire and Rescue Department was dispatched to a vehicle in flood waters at 480th Avenue and 153rd Street at approximately 1 a.m. on Monday, May 30. According to Milbank Fire Chief David Giesen, “Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a Chevy Impala that was traveling north when the teenage driver of Milbank, and his passenger, also of Milbank, became stranded in the flooded road.”

Chief Giesen said, “Firefighters used a payloader owned by Schneck Farms to reach the boys and bring them to safety. Firefighters then went back to recover the car. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office assisted.”

Giesen thanked Brian and Sherri Schneck for the use of their equipment. He also reminds all drivers to never try to cross a flooded road or go around barricades.  “Due to the recent heavy rains,” he says, “many roads are underwater and washed out.”
