Randy and Robin Patnoe, longtime owners of the ever-popular Lantern Inn restaurant in Milbank, have sold the supper club. Susan Haage and her partners purchased the Lantern Inn after their other restaurant, Sly’s Steakhouse in Big Stone, had its roof blown off during the major storm that moved through the area on May 12.

The new owners have changed the name of the Lantern Inn to Sly’s Steakhouse R2. They also plan to give diners a sneak peek of things to come when they open the doors this Sunday for a special Father’s Day buffet.
The all-you-can-eat buffet will feature prime rib, ham, and mashed potatoes. It will also include your breakfast favorites of bacon, sausage, French toast, pancakes, hash browns, ham and cheese scrambled eggs, fruit, and caramel rolls and pastries. The buffet will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.  Ask about their Mimosa and Bloody Mary specials to toast Dad on his special day!

Susan says, “We are excited to be a part of the Milbank community and look forward to seeing all of our regular customers and meeting new people.” The restaurant is also hiring. Susan says. “We’re looking for people with experience and a smile for all positions – bartenders, servers, cooks, and dishwashers.”

She says, “We aren’t sure when our actual opening day will be. We still have subcontractors — electricians and plumbers– finishing some work.  When we open, all the dining rooms will be open and the salad bar will be back. Popcorn will be back, too.”  Happy Hour is also set to make its debut.
“It’s quite an honor to take over a 35-year business success,” Susan says. “We take our business very seriously, too. We put our heart and soul into it.” “Come join us on Sunday,” she adds, “and keep up with The Valley Express for our full story  coming soon.”
