Milbank Marching Bands Take Top Places at Band Festivals

The Milbank Middle School Band (combined seventh and eighth-grade band) competed in the Lake Region Marching Band Festival. The event was held in Groton on Friday, October 7. Milbank earned the first-place award. Aberdeen Simmons-Holgate received second place.
The Milbank High School Marching Band competed in the 2022 Festival of Bands. The event was held in Sioux Falls on Saturday, October 1. Milbank took third place in the AA division. West Central High School took first place.
Both bands are also performing during half time during the Bulldogs football game on Thursday, October 20. The annual Band-Parent Night is traditionally held during the last home football game. All band students in grades six through 12 will be featured. The 32 senior marching band members and their parents will also be recognized. The event concludes the 2022 season for both bands.
The band students are instructed by Susan Karels, who serves as the high school and middle school band director. Their color guard instructor is Kristi Seehafer.
